Obituary for Anne Marie Kisler

Anne Marie Kisler, loving spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister, 90, of Galesburg, died peacefully at 3:22 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 in Seminary Manor.

Anne was born January 2, 1927 in Abingdon,IL, the daughter of Eugenio John and Philomenia Marie Ambrosia Petrini.  Anne enjoyed working in the family restaurant, Petrini’s Palace of Sweets in Abingdon, IL, where she met her husband, Wm. Dean Kisler.  They were married October 19, 1946 in Abingdon, IL.  Their marriage brought forth ten children.  Five sons: William E. (Rebecca) of Galesburg, John R. of Santee, CA, Joseph R. (Tana) Scottsdale, AZ; Anthony P. (Lori) of Corvallis, OR, and Brian D. who died on December 25, 1963; five daughters:  Deanna L. (Richard) Sexton and Julie M. (Jere) Paradis both of Galesburg, Teresa J. (Dean) Mastin of Knoxville, Maria E. (Kevin) Salsman and Lori M. (Randy) Stufflebeem both of Galesburg.  Anne is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; five brothers, John Petrini, Julio (Madeline) Petrini, and Jerry (Ginny) Petrini all of Santa Barbara, CA, Eugene Petrini of Mesa, AZ, and Jim Petrini of South Pasadena, CA; and one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Kisler of Ottawa.  Along with her parents and son, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Dean on July 18, 1990 and a grandson, Nicholas Mastin.

Anne attended nursing school but ultimately found her calling was to be a mother.  She loved to cook and bake and then share with others.  Anne was a very compassionate woman who never met a stranger, always welcomed people, and found the good in everyone.  Anne spent a big part of her life volunteering at her church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center.  Anne enjoyed being outdoors gardening and bird watching.  She was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and a sports enthusiast, especially her grandchildren’s sports, and also enjoyed listening to music.

The last several years of Anne’s life were spent living at Seminary Estates where she cherished the friendships she made.  In the end, Anne was all about love.  When asked if there are any awards, degrees or titles she was especially proud of, her answer was, “the title of Mom, Noni, or Grandma!”
