Ada M. Alecock

Ada M. Alecock, age 98, of Biggsville, Illinois passed away at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington, Iowa. She was born on July 25, 1920 in Rozetta, Illinois and is the daughter of Harry E. and Florence l. Goff Alecock. Ada was raised in the Rozetta community and attended Liberty rural school. Ada clerked and did everything at Riggles Jack Sprat Grocery Store on Main Street in Oquawka, Illinois for a number of years. After that she was an Avon Lady selling Avon products locally for forty years. She also achieved the Avon Honor Society. Ada and her friend Janet Keever loved and would go to Bingo together. Ada and Janet were best friends whenever a new baby arrived. Ada was always there to help take care of others and with her sister, Carol, loved to go mushrooming together. They also shared many car rides-most every day. She is survived by her six sisters, Betty Brown of Monmouth, Illinois; Mary Dowell of Monmouth, Illinois, Dorothy Day of Erie, Illinois; Maida Johnson (Clifford) of Biggsville, Illinois; Catherine Anderson (Gene) of Burlington, Iowa; and Sandra Cox (Cecil) of LaHarpe, Illinois. A number of other relatives also are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, two sisters, Carol Alecock and Melba Welch, and four brothers, Robert , Vern, Richard, and Harry Alecock. A funeral service is planned on Tuesday at 10:30 am November 13, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery at Biggsville. Her family plans a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday for the hour prior to the service, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A memorial fund is being established for Great River Hospice in West Burlington, Iowa.
