Adrian L. Lefler

Adrian L. Lefler, age 81, of Monmouth, passed away at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at his residence in Monmouth. He was born on June 19, 1928 in Lomax, Ill., the son of Ross C. and Ellen V. Williams Lefler. Adrian attended Jackson Corners school. He served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1949. Adrian married Edna Fisher on June 19, 1949 in Kirkwood, Ill. Growing up, Adrian helped on the family farm. He then went to work for the railroad as a section laborer. Following that he enlisted into the service. Adrian went to work at Gale Products in Galesburg, drove a truck for CB&Q, worked at International Harvester, Admirals, Burlington Basket Co., and most recently he worked at Pioneer Seed Corn and L&L Repair in Galesburg. Adrian enjoyed woodworking, building and fixing things, NASCAR, reading, working on lawn mowers, and most of all, spending time with his family. Surviving Adrian is his wife of 60 years, Edna of Monmouth, daughters; Marlene Pendry of Wilton, Ia., Cheryl Hicks (Mike) of Wheatland, Wy., Elaine Lefler of Altona, Ill., Sons; Davey Lefler (Roberta) of Idaho Falls, Id., Roger Lefler (Brenda) of Oneida, Ill., and Bruce Lefler of Altona, Ill. Also surviving are sisters; Martha Wicks, Ona Mae Younge both of Abingdon and Rilla Stivers of Oquawka, Ill., Reva Farmer (Don), Aileen Mills (Dale) both of Monmouth, and one brother Jerry Lefler of Monmouth. Adrian also has 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Cynthia Jo Lefler, four brothers, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood. Friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home where his family will be present to receive friends. A memorial fund is being established.
