Albert "Jr." Britton, age 81, of Monmouth, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his home in Monmouth. He was born on May 13, 1930 in Shelbyville, Indiana the son of Bert and Ella Ester Sly Britton. Jr. was reared and educated in the Biggsville and Rozetta area. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Jr. married Letta Belle Bent on August 7, 1952 in Monmouth, she survives. Jr. began farming, locally with several area farmers. He then worked at Wells Pet Food of Monmouth unloading rail cars. He next was employed at Agar Foods and then Wilson Foods in Monmouth where he was night sanitation supervisor. Jr. also owned and operated Britton Construction in Monmouth for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Jr. is survived by his wife, Letta Belle Britton of Monmouth, three daughters; Vickey Hare (Loren) of Roseville, Ill., Teresa Montroy (James) of Monmouth, and Letta LeAnne West of Monmouth. Two sons; Dennis Britton (Melody) of Kirkwood, Ill., and Kendal Britton (Kris) of Alexis, Ill. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, two sisters; Norma Motta of Saybrook, Ct., Lois Talley of Lady Lake, Fl., and one brother Richard Britton in Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter-in-law Paula Britton. Services:A funeral service with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded following the service. His family will be present to receive friends Saturday morning at Turnbull Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. and until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established by his family.
