Albert E. Kellert, age 89, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Ill. Albert was born on June 30, 1920, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Albert M. and Catherine Theimer Kellert. Albert was raised and educated in Oklahoma City and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from Oklahoma State University. Serving his country during World War II, Albert was a Captain in the Army Air Force being assigned to special top secret chemical warfare unit. On November 25, 1945 Albert married Barbara Lauppe in Enid, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2004, after over 58 years of marriage. For 38 years, Albert worked for Wilson and Company in operations and marketing. He was highly recognized in all aspects of his work. Starting his career in Kansas City, Kan., it followed with moves to LaGrange/Chicago, Ill., Cedar Rapids, Ia., Albert Lea, Minn. Oklahoma City, Okla and finished his career in Monmouth. Special interests of Albert were his family, church, travel, sports and dining. Music was an important part of Albert's life as he was an accomplished violinist, was a choir member or choir director of various Lutheran Churches wherever he lived and was a member of the Buchanan Chorus in Monmouth. Albert was a member and past president of the Warren - Henderson Diabetic Club in Monmouth and played baseball as a hobby. As a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Galesburg, Albert held numerous positions including finance secretary treasurer, choir director, and Sunday School teacher. Albert had a very strong love for all his children. Surviving Albert are three daughters: Barbara A. Kellert of Brookfield, Ill.; Helen Ramming and David of Fresno, Calif; Carolyn Griffiths and Richard of Monmouth; one son Albert M. Kellert and Cheryl of Amissville, Vir. five grandchildren: Amy Payette, Albert E. Kellert, Daniel Ramming, Michelle Ramming, and Glenn Ramming and three great grandchildren: Andrea Payette, Thomas Payette and Caleb Ramming. Also surviving are one sister Catherine Forest of St. Louis, Mo. and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Albert in death are his parents, wife Barbara, brothers Paul Kellert, Frank Kellert and sister Margaret Kellert. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church 1372 West Fremont in Galesburg, Illinois. Interment with military honors will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call after Noon on Sunday with Albert's family present to receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth.
