Alice E. Pearson, age 96, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, IL. on June 29, 2011 at 7:35 pm She was born on August 10, 1914 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of John Arthur and Ethel Gertrude Garrett Pogue. She was raised in the Media area and attended local schools and Media High School. She then attended the Western Illinois Teacher's College at Macomb and the college in Winona, Minnesota. She was married to H. Wayne Pearson on June 2, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1969. Alice taught in the rural schools for several years until she was married. She then was a homemaker and member of the Winnie Hockman Ladies Club and the Biggsville Community Club. She was of the Methodist faith. She also was a member of the Henderson County Retired Teachers Association. Alice also wrote a periodic column for the Review Atlas and the Henderson County Quill local newspapers. Surviving is her son Ken (Laurel) Pearson of Houston, Texas, her grandson Colin (Kristi) Pearson of Cypress, Texas, and a great granddaughter Mikaela Pearson of Cypress, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, two sisters Dorothy Rankin and Betty Jean Ekelof, and two brothers Earl Pogue and Max Pogue. Services:A funeral service will be on Thursday July 7th at 11:00 am at the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Her family plans to receive friends for the hour prior to the service at the church. 10:00 am to 11:00 am Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial funds are established for either the Schlotzhauer Home in Oquawka, Illinois or the Henderson County Economic Developement Committee.
