Andrew C. Young, age 90, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center in Galesburg, on March 23, at 3:15 am. He was born on January 25, 1923 in Monmouth, and is the son of Clyde C. and Theodora Witt Young. Andrew was raised in Kirkwood where he attended local schools and graduated from the Kirkwood High School. Andy married Mary June Bergren on May 3, 1945.She passed away on November 10, 2006. Andy farmed forty-five years in the Kirkwood area, and then was employed as a shop man for Maple City Steel Supplies until his retirement. Andy served on the Yorkwood School District board for a number of years and served one term as it's president. Andrew's family also founded Young's Lake, a private lake near Kirkwood, and was active in that for many years. The Young's also operated an egg production business known as Young's Caged Layers. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Episcopal Church of Monmouth, Illinois. Andy enjoyed carpentry and woodworking in his later years. He is survived by two daughters Alice June Bunn ( James ) of Garland, Maine and Sarah Ann "Sally" Young of Peoria, Illinois. His sister survives, Mary Anne Cook of Payson, Arizona and three nieces, Patricia "Trish" Utsinger of Monmouth, IL, Beth Vickers and Sarah Tindell both in Arizona. His nephew Joe Masten in California. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother John. Services:A funeral service for Andrew will be on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. His family plans visitation on Tuesday evening 3/26 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established for Stom Center of Monmouth.
