Anita Lelia Lomax, 82, of Galesburg, died at 4:42 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born November 21, 1928, in Galesburg, the daughter of Ralph and Barbara Rice Stablein. She is survived by George Lomax, her husband and long-time companion, a daughter, Susan (and Bill) Mast of Delaware, Ohio, a brother, Phillip (and Alice) Stablein of Haddonfield, New Jersey, two sisters, Irene (and Terry) Hoben of Galesburg and Rachel Stablein of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Kristin Mast of Chicago, Karin (Sky) Henning of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and Bill Mast of Montrose, Colorado; and one great grandson, Bradley. Anita was a 1946 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Nauvoo and was a life long resident of Galesburg. She worked as the traffic coordinator at the Maytag Corporation for 27 years, retiring in 1990. She also worked at Butler Manufacturing, Sears, and for The Boy Scouts of America. Anita was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Anita loved spending time in Michigan, salmon fishing Funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. with Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 6p.m. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Western Illinois Kidney Center or Donor’s Choice.
