Anna Louise Higgins, age 92, of Wataga, Illinois, passed away at 1:32 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Born on May 16, 1917 in Monmouth, Illinois, Anna was the daughter of Eric Rudolph and Fawn M. Frymyre Holmberg. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School. She first married Harold Painter and he preceded her in death. She married Buddy B. Higgins on August 30, 1957 in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2000. Anna most recently worked at the Galesburg Research Hospital as a Mental Health Technichian. She was the local distribution manager for the Chicago Daily News for a time. Anna also served as a Nurses Aide at the Aledo Nursing Home. Anna enjoyed horses and riding. She was a member of the Galesburg Boots and Saddle Club. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for goats. She just liked being outdoors and also enjoyed going to the state fair. Surviving is one daughter Susan (Al) Corsi of The Woodlands, Texas and four sons, Jeff (Cindy) Higgins of Oneida, IL., Dan (Debra) Higgins of Dixon, IL; Phil (Carol) Painter of Galesburg, IL. and Jerry (Linda) Painter of Monmouth, IL. Thirteen Grandchildren survive and Fourteen Great Grandchildren. Also several sister in laws also survive. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and Two Brothers. Services:A graveside service for Anna Louise Higgins will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Her family plans to receive friends for an hour prior to the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue or the Knox County Humane Society.
