Anona Mae Widener

Anona Mae Widener, age 76, of Stronghurst, IL and formerly of Monmouth, passed away at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa on May 28, 2011 at 11:27 pm. She was born on October 7, 1934 in Lomax, Ill. and is the daughter of Ernest K. and Helen Louise Sherman Pence. She was reared and educated in Henderson County, Ill. She married Robert G. Widener on July 22, 1950 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her on September 19, 1994. Anona was a homemaker. She spent alot of time babysitting for friends and family. She loved flowers, cooking, the St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR, and singer George Strait. Anona is survived by her three children; Jerry L. Widener (Kathy Sells) of Oquawka, Ill., Angie Kettleson (Wayne) of Albert Lee, MN, and Lori Widener (Bill Brandt) of Fairfield, Ia. She has eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are eight brothers; David Pence (Alice) of LaHarp, Ill., Larry Pence (Jennett) of Lomax, Ill., Ronnie Pence (Rhonda) of Valero, Ca., Jim Pence (Edna) of Dallas City, Ill., Sheldon Pence (Kathy) of Dallas City, Ill., Wyverne Pence (Nancy) of Pleasant Plains, Ia., Joe Pence (LuAnn) of Carthage, Ill., and Randy Pence (Carol) of Niota, Ill. One sister Deb Worley (Ronnie) of Lomax, Ill., also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gary Widener, two grandchildren, one sister and one brother. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Friends may call and hour prior to the service from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. at the funeral home where her family will be present to receive friends. A memorial fund is being established by her family.
