Arlene L Johnson

Arlene L. Johnson, age 88, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home on September 16, 2011 at 11:14 pm. Arlene was born October 4, 1922 in Lodge Pole, South Dakota and is the daughter of Carl Alvin and Emily Amelia Palmer Johnson. Arlene and her family came to Monmouth when she was a young girl and she attended Monmouth Schools and graduated from Monmouth High School. She was married to George R. "Cobby" Johnson on May 12, 1946 in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1992. Arlene began work as assistant to Dr. Andrew Frymire in Monmouth, IL. Then in 1950 she began working with Dr. Roy Price at the Vet Clinic here in Monmouth. She worked for him until he retired in 1976. Arlene has cared for a number of the elderly in their homes locally, and has been a member of Immanual Baptist Church of Monmouth most of her life. Arlene loved animals, people, music, and visiting with her friends. A number of relatives survive Arlene. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister Betty Pierson and brother in law Walter Pierson. Services:A funeral service will be at Immanual Baptist Church in Monmouth on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Her family plans visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for her church Immanual Baptist Church in Monmouth.
