Arlene J. Seitz, age 84, of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 P.M. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born on September 23, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis William and Lucille (Warner) Rudy. Arlene attended school in Gladstone and was a graduate of G&O High School. On October 4, 1951, she married Lawrence R. Seitz at the Gladstone United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2008. Arlene worked for the Union School District #115 for 27 years as a custodian and bus driver. She also worked at the Henderson County Health Department in Gladstone for 15 years. Arlene loved to sew, read, tend to her garden, shopping, and talking with her friends. Most of all, she loved being with her many grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed golfing with her husband Lawrence and posted a hole-in-one on number 9 at Hend-Co-Hills Golf Course in Biggsville. Arlene is survived by one daughter, Jenette (Luis) Johnson of Gladstone, IL, one daughter in law, Jane Seitz of Oquawka, IL, three sons; William "Bill" (Jeanne) Seitz of Biggsville, IL, Jake (Denise) Sietz of Gladstone, IL, and Don (Diana) Seitz of Gladstone, IL, twenty grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews are also surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, two sisters; Janie Lou and Carol, one son Larry, and one grandson, Christopher. Memorial Service A memorial service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Gladstone United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date in the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established and will be named at a later date.
