Barbara V. Mackey

Barbara V. Mackey, age 87, of Cameron, Illinois; passed away at the Knox County Nursing Home on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:36 am. Barbara was born on January 19, 1931 in Macon, Missouri and is the daughter of Everett and Vurgil Shafer Leath. She was raised and educated in Cameron, where she attended the Cameron Grade School. Barbara married LeRoy F. "Cap" Mackey on September 10, 1955 in the parsonage at Cameron, Illinois. Barbara worked at Formfit as a seamstress for twenty-one years and is a member of the Cameron Christian Church. Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Mackey (Jimbo) of Galesburg, Illinois and her son, LeRoy F. Mackey, Jr. (Linda) of Cameron, IL. There is one grandson, one step-granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. One sister survives, Margie Borcky of Monmouth, IL. There are four brothers, Gilbert Leath of Galesburg, IL, Fred Leath of Monmouth, IL; Dean Leath of Monmouth, IL, and Jim Leath (Edna) of Cameron, IL. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, five sisters, two brothers, and one step grandson. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening at Turnbulls. Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Christian Women's Fellowship at Cameron Christian Church.
