Barbara A. Newton Kidder, age 77, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa on April 29, 2014 at 4:42 PM. She was born on July 11, 1936 in Matherville,Illinois the daughter of Charles Raymond Bedford and June Lee Cooper.She was raised in Matherville and attended the schools there. At the age of twelve Barbara and her family moved to Millersburg,Illinois where graduated from Millersburg High School. Barbara married Herald William Newton on November7,1953 in Aledo,Illinois and he preceded her in death on January 28,1983. She later married Richard Kidder. Barbara was employed for 41 years by Charlie McChesney at the Gladstone Grain Company as his secretary. She enjoyed traveling and most of all her family. She is survived by four daughters, Teresa Lundeen of Oquawka, Illinois, Dorothy Meyer and fianc?' "Rusty Hainds of Oquawka, Illinois; Dianna (Dennis) Higgins of Oquawka, Illinois; and Brenda (Danford) Bigger of Gladstone, Illinois. There are two sons, Gary (Brenda) Newton of Gladstone, Illinois; and Larry "Sam" ( Jody) Newton of Oquawka, Illinois. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister survives, Dorothy Newswander (Leroy) of Aledo, Illinois and three brothers Dennis Bedford of Aledo, Illinois; Charles Bedford (Karen) of New Boston, Illinois; and Neil Bedford of Aledo, Illinois. A number of nieces and nephews and other relatives survive. She is preceded in her death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Saturday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois with burial in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans visitation at Turnbulls on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with the family present. A memorial fund is being established by her family.
