Barbara Sue (Staley) Meyer

Barbara Sue (Staley) Meyer, age 71, of Kirkwood, Illinois, went home to the Lord at 1:05 am on Friday, December 2, 2016 at her residence. She was born February 12, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Jr. and Edna (Schroeder) Staley. She was reared and educated in Stronghurst, Illinois, graduating from Stronghurst High School in 1963. Barbara graduated from Western Illinois University in 1967 with a degree in mathematics. On June 12, 1966, Barbara married Gary V. Meyer; he survives. Barbara worked for seven years as a computer programmer for International Harvester in Hinsdale, Illinois. In 1973, she began a 43 year farming career with her husband. Barbara taught mathematics at Union High School in Biggsville, Illinois, beginning in 1993 until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of Rozetta Baptist Church, where she served as organist and treasurer. Barbara is survived by her husband, Gary; one son, Sean (Marci) Meyer of Kirkwood, IL; one daughter, Kelly (Gavin) Jones of Newcastle, England; one sister, Sandy (Marvin) Ford, of McHenry, IL; also surviving are three granddaughters, Mackenzie (Justin) Crooks of Cedar Rapids, IA; Grace and Samantha Meyer of Kirkwood, IL. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation Her family plans visitation and will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Rozetta Baptist Church. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Rozetta Baptist Church, Rozetta Township, Little York, IL. Interment will follow the service at Reed Cemetery in rural Kirkwood, IL. A memorial fund is established for Rozetta Baptist Church or Reed Cemetery.
