Bernard "Bernie" D. Millen

Bernard D. "Bernie" Millen, age 69, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 1:40 am at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa on Tuesday June 17, 2014. He was born on December 4, 1944 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of James M. and Doll E. Coziahr Millen. "Bernie" resided in Rio, Illinois where he attended the ROVA District Schools and graduated from High School. He then attended and graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, WI. Bernie began work as an engineer at Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois where he worked for a number of years. He then went to the Borg Warner Company in Dixon, Illinois as an engineer until his retirement in 1999. Bernie loved fishing and boating. In his earlier years he enjoyed softball and going bowling. Bernie was a member of Williboc, the Keithsburg Boat Club, and the Oquawka Eagles Club. He is survived by one daughter, Ariann "Ari" Henderson (Todd) of Hudson, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ben, Abi, and Naomi, his friend Teresa Adair of Niota, Illinois; one sister, Bethel Hill of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, William "Bill' Millen (Elaine) of Baltimore, Maryland and his aunts, an uncle, nieces and nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in his death by his parents. Services:A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Turnbull's in Oquawka, Illinois. His family will receive friends at the funeral home following from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Cremation has been accorded.
