Bessie A. Martin

Bessie A. Martin, age 55, of Monmouth, passed away at 8:20 p.m., November 24, 2010 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on July 21, 1955 in Monmouth, the daughter of John T. and Verna B. Shultz Logsdon. She was reared and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. She married William A. Martin, Sr. on July 6, 1973 in Monmouth, he survives. Bessie was a news carrier for the Daily Review Atlas and Galesburg Register Mail. She liked shopping, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. Surviving Bessie is her husband William A. Martin, Sr., one daughter Pammy Martin, and one son William A. Martin, Jr. (Lace Ann) all of Monmouth. Also surviving are five sisters; Paula Johnson (larry) of Rural Monmouth, Pamela Logsdon, Peggy Willett (Terry), Penny Bell (Mark), Margaret Logsdon and two grandchildren; Milo Martin and Olivia Martin all of Monmouth. Two brothers; George Shultz and Arlo Logsdon, fifteen nieces and nephews and twenty two great nieces and nephews also survive. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends an hour prior to service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established for the care of Bessie's daughter Pammy.
