Betty R. Boyd

Betty R. Boyd, age 77, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at OSF St. Mary Medical Center on Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 12:40 pm. Betty was born on March 27, 1936 in Plainville, Illinois and is the daughter of Clarence and Glenna Belts Ratliff. Betty was raised in Abingdon, Illinois where she attended public schools and high school. She then completed beauty school at Dooley Beauty Culture School in Galesburg. She was married to Clyde C. Boyd on February 14, 1954 in Cameron, Illinois and he is surviving. Betty began work doing hairstyling in her own home for several years. She then was employed at " Formfit " in Monmouth as a seamstress for many years and then clerked at the former "Killey Cleaners" also in Monmouth for many years. Lastly, Betty did Child Care in her home also for many years. She and her husband enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle and logged more than 250,000 miles in their travels. One such trip was from Canada to Mobile, Alabama. She loved and collected Lighthouses and enjoyed singing while on her car rides. Her main joy in life was her family and grandchildren. Surviving Betty is her husband Clyde C. Boyd of Galesburg, Illinois; three daughters, Sheryl (Chris) Johnson of Burlington,Iowa, Sandra (Chuck) Pierson of Knoxville,Illinois, Susan (John) Freed of North Mankato, Minnesota one son, Bryan (Dianna) Boyd of Macomb,Illinois, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded by her parents and four sisters. Services:A graveside service is planned for 10:00 a m Saturday April 27, 2013 at the Biggsville Cemetery in Biggsville, IL. A memorial fund has been established for St. Francis Childrens Hospital in Peoria, IL
