Betty A. Carlson

Betty Ann Carlson, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 12:18 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Betty was born January 14, 1954 in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Earl W. and Dollie E. (Algood) DuVall. Betty earned her BA in Biblical Studies from Illinois Baptist College in Galesburg.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Dollie (Devin) Horaney and Kimberly (Thomas) Baker both of Galesburg; one son, Jason (Geraldine) Ricketts of South Korea; one sister, Patricia (Steven) Stewart of LeClaire, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Betty served as a missionary taking numerous short term missions to different countries. She loved crafting and anything she could make with her hands. She had a strong Christian faith and read the Bible daily. She served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Galesburg.

Betty wishes were to donate her body to science. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Kensington Ballroom in Galesburg.
