Betty Mesick

Betty L. Mesick, age 79, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 6:05 pm on Friday, December 25, 2015 at her residence in Monmouth. She was born on September 25, 1936 in Beverly, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel and Alberta (Daughtery) Johnson. Betty and her family moved to Monmouth where she attended Harding Elementary School and Monmouth High School. On April 24, 1959, Betty married Ralph C. Mesick at the 9th Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 14, 2014. Betty began work at A&W in Monmouth. She then worked at Formfit/Smolers, Glastex, Community Memorial Hospital, and Carhartt. Betty last worked at Casey's until she retired in 2006. Betty loved crossword puzzles, watching the Country Music Awards, the Walton's, Little House on the Prairie, and she never missed an episode of the show "Nashville". Most important in her life was her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by one daughter; Terri (Martin) Shawler of Monmouth, IL, one granddaughter; Michelle (Doug) Corsaro of Monmouth, IL, one grandson; Thomas (Courtney) Miller of Monmouth, IL, five great-grandchildren; Ty, Sam, Max, Brooklyn, and Thomas Jr, and two sisters; Mary (Larry) Bellinger and Kay Lewis. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one nephew. Visitation Family plans to receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial is being established and will be named at a later date. Interment will follow at Monmouth Cemetery.
