Betty M. Ryner, age 84, of Monmouth passed away at 11:56 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL. Betty was born on May 26, 1927 in Alexis, she was the daughter of Frank E. and Daisy M. Olin Caldwell. She was reared and educated in Norwood and Alexis. After attending Alexis High School, Betty also took classes from the American Institute of Banking. She married James E. Ryner on August 24, 1944 in Alexis, Ill., and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2003. Betty worked at Hendricks Cafe, Gambles Skogmo, and managed the cafeteria at the Formfit. She later went to work at the National Bank in Monmouth in 1966, and worked there until her retirement in 1995 as the Vice President of the Bank. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and was active in the Ruth Circle. She also served an officer with the AIB while working at the bank. Betty was also active with Altrusa, AAUW, and the Cancer Society. Betty enjoyed reading, was a wonderful cook, traveling, and most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. Betty is survived by five sons; Frank L. Ryner (Virginia) of Rock Island, Ill., Richard E. Ryner (Glenda) of Monmouth, Larry W. Ryner (Joan) of Monmouth, David J. Ryner (Suzanne) of Monmouth, and Donald P. Ryner (Mindy) of Rowlett, Tx. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one sister Gladys Caldwell of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Janet Ryner, and one son Robert Ryner. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, where her family will be present to receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
