Betty R. Vancil

Betty I. Vancil, age 73, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at her Monmouth residence on December 2, 2011 at 8:40 pm. She was born June 30, 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Price D. and Mildred R. Kissick Howell. Betty was raised in Monmouth and attended Monmouth public schools and high school. Betty first was married to Verle R. Montgomery, and later married Msgt. Harry G. Vancil on February 14, 1984 in Monmouth, IL. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2000. Betty was first employed by Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. She then became the cook at the Pink Elephant at the Colonial Hotel in Monmouth, IL. Betty later also cooked at Dial a Chicken, and then the Filling Station III, both in Monmouth, Illinois. Lastly she worked for a time at Admiral Corporation in Galesburg, Illinois. Betty loved to go and to play Bingo. Two daughters survive, Cathy (Jerry) Barker and Roxanna (Michael) Manes both of Oquawka, Illinois and two sons Gerry and Randall Montgomery, both of Monmouth, Illinois. There are two step daughters Julley (Jim) Hirschl of Bunker Hill, IL and Cheryl (Ken) Humphrey of Lake Elsinor, CA. and one step son Glenn (Cindy) Vancil of Swan Creek, Illinois. There are fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Two sisters are surviving Jean (Walter) Shamblin and Sandra (Lawrence) Lant, both of Monmouth, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, two sons, seven brothers, three sisters, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Services:A funeral service for Betty is planned at 11:00 am on Wednesday December 7, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, on Tueday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
