Beulah L. Bolender

Beulah L. Bolender, age 72, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Cottage Hospital on Wednesday June 2, at 1:48 pm. She was born on March 11, 1938 in Monmouth, and is the daughter of Charles R and Lula V. Phipps Bickell. Beulah was raised and educated in Kirkwood and graduated from Kirkwood High School. She married Robert Dean Bolender on August 6, 1955 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2000. Beulah was employed at Maytag for thirty years and retired from there in 2000. She was a devoted mother and homemaker for her family and loved to cook, bake, and take care of her family. Surviving is her mother Lula Bickell of Kirkwood, Illinois. Three daughters Vickie (Joe) Downey of Junction City, Kansas; Cindy (Mike) Lindburg of Monmouth, Illinois; Barb (John) Armstrong of Monmouth, Illinois; and a son Gary "Bo" Bolender of Monmouth, Illinois. Four grandsons, Ryan Downey of Louisville, Kentucky, Anthony " T J " ( Shannen) Lindburg of Galesburg, Eric (Andrea) Downey of Kansas City, Kansas; and Bruce (Amanda) Damewood of Clinton, Iowa. One Granddaughter Brook Bolender of Monmouth, Illinois. One great granddaughter Paige Downey in Florida. Six sisters survive Joyce (Al) Hazelwood of Tyler, Texas; Juanita (Wayne) Hart of Kirkwood, Illinois; Elva Cox of Galesburg, Illinois; Judy (Jim) Andrews of Chaparrel, New Mexico; Norma (Roger) Nuckles and Kathy (Rick) Levine both of Monmouth, Illinois. There are two brothers John (Ruth) Bickell of Galesburg, Illinois and Tim Bickell in Hawaii. Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews also survive. Services:A memorial service for friends and family is planned on Saturday June 5th, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 10:00 am. Cremation has been accorded. No viewing or visitation is planned by her family. Interment of her ashes will be in St.Mary's Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund is being established for the Warren County Relay for Life.
