August 26, 1921 in Spring Hope, North Carolina and is the 6th child of nine born to Walter Calvin and Ludy Lucinda "Ludie" Sykes Vick. She was born on the home farm near Spring Hope North Carolina in Nash County. She graduated from Spring Hope High School. After working on the family farm where cotton and tobacco were the main crops, she worked at Ekkerd Drug Store in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was married to John Clifford Jenks, Jr. on March 6, 1943 in Raleigh, North Carolina. When he was deployed to Europe during World War II, she worked as a welder's apprentice at the Newport News, VA shipyards with her brothers. Women had never worked in the shipyards before the were needed during W.W.II After John returned from WWII at the end of 1945, they moved back to Illinois and resided in Pekin for about a year. Spring 1946 they began farming near Monmouth, Warren County, IL. John preceded her in death in 1996 after 53 years of marriage. She was a member of Fairview Center United Methodist Church. She was a member of Ladies Aid, the Home Builders Class, and other committees at the church. John and Beulah were members for over 50 years of the Rook club, a group of friends that met monthly for almost 50 years for potlucks and the card game of Rook. Beulah was the last surviving member of the 10 couples that began playing in 1947. Surviving are one daughter, Karen Ruth (Bill) Robinson of Galesburg, IL; and one son John David (Alyce) Jenks of Monmouth, IL. and six grandchildren. Brian (Jennifer) Robinson, Galesburg, Mark (Jody) Robinson, Galesburg, Amy (Rob) Anderson of Bloomington, IL. Tricia (Jeff) Place of St. Joseph, IL and Andy (Jackie) Jenks of Monmouth, and tom (Jill) Jenks of Monmouth, Illinois. 18 great grandchildren, Anna, Grant, Julia, Claire, Luke, Caleb, Lydia, and Corban Robinson, Kylee and Cooper Anderson, Allison and Jack Place, Owen, Colin, Evan, Aidan, Nolan, and Mason Jenks. She was affectionately known as Grandma and GG and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. There were always perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies ready for grandchildren at GG's home. Also surviving are sister in laws and brother in laws, Robert and Lee Jenks, Charles Lynn and Margaret Jenks, both of CA, Russell and Elva Jenks of Monmouth, and June Jenks (Mrs.Loren) of Cleveland, TX and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, Reid, Clarence, Willard, Lonise, John Cecil, and Durand and two sisters Maybelle Jones, and Annie Lois Murray. Services:A funeral service with visitation will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Fairview Center Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:00 prior to the funeral service at the Fairview Church. A memorial fund is being established by her family. Fellowship will follow the interment at the Fairview United Methodist Church.
