Beverly Jean Spangler, 85, of Monmouth, Illinois, died at 8:47 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
Beverly was born October 25, 1939 in Monmouth, the daughter of Harold W. and Margaret I. (Themanson) Shaner. Beverly attended country schools around Rozetta, Illinois and graduated from Union High School. Beverly was united in marriage to Richard Dean Spangler on March 23, 1957 in Oquawka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2012.
Beverly is survived by three daughters, Jeanette (Tim) McDaneld of Smithshire, Illinois and Linda Cavillo of Pekin, Illinois, and Cindy (John) Dean of Monmouth; one son, Clint (Rhonda) Spangler of Galesburg; two grandsons, David McDaneld of Gilson, Illinois and Adam McDaneld of Smithshire; one granddaughter, Tonya Moore of Galesburg; three great granddaughters, Athena, Jensen, and Josephine Moore; and three great grandsons, Konrad, Nickolas, and Matthew McDaneld. Along with her husband and parents, Beverly was preceded in death by one brother, LeRoy Shaner.
Beverly worked for several years as a ward assistant at the Galesburg Mental Health Hospital, later worked at Munson Trucking as a team driver with her husband Richard for 10 years, and lastly Beverly and Richard owned and operated Bev’s Flowers are Us in Monmouth for 15 years, prior to retiring.
Beverly and Richard enjoyed riding their Honda Goldwing motorcycle, taking many cross-country trips over the years. She also loved her pet cats and dogs.
Beverly wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband at the Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, Illinois. No services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, Oquawka, Illinois. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
