Bonnie Berniece Jones, age 91, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:41 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on October 21, 1920 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Harry F. and Minnie F. Colburn Kick. As an infant she lived in Oxly and was reared and educated there. Berniece married Russell Jones on February 25, 1939 in Oxly, Mo., he is surviving. They moved to the Rozetta area in 1943 where her husband farmed for Faye Houtchens for twenty years and she as farm wife. In 1954 Berniece completed training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Monmouth Hospital, and continued to work there until the opening of Community Memorial Hospital also in Monmouth. She then began private practice taking care of a number of people in the area for many of her remaining years and to the present. She is a member of Rozetta Baptist Church and served as Deacon. She also taught Sunday School there. Berniece loved her family, quilting, and loved to sew. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Surviving her are her husband Russell C. Jones of Monmouth, one daughter Carol McNitt of Oquawka, IL and one son Russell L. Jones also of Oquawka. There are eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also surviving is her sister Phyllis Cristler of Jonesboro, Arkansas and a number of other relatives. Preceding her in death are two sons Ron and Roger, a grandson Joshua, five brothers and three sisters. Services:A funeral service will be 10:00 am on Saturday November 12, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established for the Rozetta Baptist Church.
