Carol J. Hornbaker

Carol J. Hornbaker, age 75, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 9:45 pm on January 2, 2019 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Carol was born on November 22, 1943 and is the daughter of Carl and Mary Orpha Hood McLaughlin. Carol was raised and educated in Monmouth where she attended local schools. She was married to Donald Hornbaker on January 1975 in Monmouth, and he passed away on June 5, 2009. Carol is a homemaker and a mother and a grandmother. She loved to go with her grandchildren, and loved to do crosswords and play card games. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lynn Sanderson of Milan, Illinois and Sherry Alfaro (Steve) of Galesburg, Illinois. There is one son surviving, Donald Hornbaker (Cindy) of Galesburg, IL and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister survives Donna Neal of Galesburg, Illinois and two brothers, Ronald McLaughlin of Kirkwood, Illinois and Carl McLaughlin of Monmouth, Illinois She is preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, two sons, four sisters, and four brothers. A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am Thursday, January 10, 2019. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family will receive their friends for the hour prior to the funeral service at Turnbull Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established for her family.
