Carole L. Stevenson, age 73, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at her Oquawka residence on Sunday, February 2nd, 2014. Carole was born on April 2, 1940 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Eddie B. and Helen D. Clayton Short. She was reared and educated in Monmouth and attended local schools. She received her General Education Degree in 1978. She was married to William Gary Stevenson on December 26, 1958 in Monmouth, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2007. After her marriage, they lived in Downers Grove, Illinois where they resided until 1975 and returned to Biggsville, Illinois. Carole was truly a stay at home mother. She held short-lived jobs at Larry's Grocery Store, Scotty's Chemical Company, and Country Fun Restaurant, all in Biggsville, Illinois. She was known to organize "variety shows" locally and the "This is Your Life, Dr. S.C. Lindo" celebration. Carole enjoyed singing and dancing. She enjoyed baking treats and shared them with everybody. Carole loved to spend time with her three grandsons and was a "hands-on" grandma. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, and re-decorating her home. Services:Surviving is one daughter, Teresa Stevenson of Oquawka, Illinois, and three grandsons, Jay (Tish George) Wetterling of Gladstone, IL, Ethan (Erin Murphy) Pullen of Biggsville, IL, and Clayton Pullen of Oquawka, IL. One great-granddaughter, Berkley Pullen, and two great-grandsons, Brody Pullen and Brixton Wetterling. One sister, Helen (Gene) Bratcher of Monmouth, Illinois and one brother John Short of Las Vegas, Nevada are surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, William Bryon "Fu" Stevenson, and an aunt, Lois Tatman Ray. Cremation rites are being accorded by her family, and no service is currently being planned. Service plans will be published at a later date. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
