Carolyn E Lee

Carolyn E. Lee, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois on April 2, 2010 at 6:15 am. She was born August 11, 1926 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Stanley H. and Marye C. Howard Merion. Carolyn was raised and educated in the Monmouth Schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1944. She was married to Ben M. Lee on November 20, 1949 in Monmouth, Illinois. After marriage, they lived in Roseville for forty years, and were members of the Roseville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Carolyn also sang solo for many weddings and special events. She also sang locally with a trio known as " The Three Notes" in the area. They moved to Monmouth in 1991. She has been an active member of Chapter LE of PEO and TTT. She also was a member of Monmouth Country Club and enjoyed golf. She is survived by her husband Ben M. Lee of Monmouth, and two sons Jeffrey M. Lee (Tess) of Temecula, CA; James R. Lee (Linda) of Monmouth, IL. and one daughter Linda S. Grupenhagen (Steve) of Burke, VA. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be on Monday April 5, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 2:00 pm. Her family plans to receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. A private family interment service will follow at Roseville Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for Chapter LE of PEO.
