Catherine E. "Cathy" Goepfert, age 61, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 12:43 pm on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her Oquawka residence. Cathy was born on May 30, 1955 in Memphis,Tennessee and is the daughter of C.D. and Dessie Griffin Edlemon. Cathy was raised in Memphis and Aurora, Illinois where she attended schools. She received her General Education Degree in Aurora, Illinois. She married Dave A. "Fonz" Goepfert on December 9, 1992 in Oquawka, Illinois. Cathy worked as a traveling Sales Associate for Shauman Jewelry for a number of years. She was later employed by Vista Bakery and worked as a Team Leader for fifteen years until her retirement. She loved doing her nails, shopping, dancing, bingo, and clowns. Cathy was always the life of the party and enjoyed going to the boat for entertainment. Cathy is survived by her husband, Dave of Oquawka, IL; two daughters, Ronda ( Marcus) Catchings of Plainfield, IL and Ashley ( Billy) Gormley of Mission Viejo, CA. one Son, Brandon ( Maggie ) Kopf of Plainfield, IL and two step daughters, Laurie Goepfert of Aledo, IL and Angie Goepfert of Oquawka, IL. 15 grandchildren, two sisters, Wanda Casey and Linda ( Bob ) Hughes, both of Oquawka, IL. four brothers, Don (Valerie) Edlemon of Lake Okeechobee, FL., Gary (Janice) Edlemon of Little Rock, AR, Ronnie ( Shirley ) Edlemon of Oquawka, IL, and Eddie ( Shelly ) Edlemon of Quincy, IL. A number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, one sister Willie Ellis and one brother, Larry Edlemon. Visitation Her family plans to be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois on Monday, March 13, 2017 for visitation and will receive their friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Funeral Service A funeral service will be at 5:00 pm immediately following the visitation and will be conducted by Pastor Chuck Reynolds with cremation to follow. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cathy's life immediately following the service at the Walking Eagles Club in Oquawka. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date in the Oquawka Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her family.
