Charles R. "Chuck" Butler, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at his residence. He was born on September 24, 1945 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Charles B. and Barbara (McKelvey) Butler. Chuck attended high school in Carmel, NY. Chuck served with the United States Marines during Vietnam. On May 24, 2001, Chuck married Kathryn Spires in Monmouth, IL and she is surviving. Chuck was a professional musician, playing base with multiple bands in the area. He was best known for playing with "Alias Smith and Jones" of the Quad Cities and lastly, "Blazing Country" of New Boston. Chuck's heart and soul was music. Chuck is survived by his wife Kathryn, son, Colin (Jennifer) Deppe of Bettendorf, IA, a number of children from previous marriages, two grandchildren, Ashton and Emmalynn, one brother, John Butler of Carmel, NY, and a number of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. Memorial Service A memorial service is planned for 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation is being accorded.
