C. James "Jim" Dillon, age 81, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 3:38 am on December 31, 2012 in the Emergency Room of Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Jim was born on September 29, 1931 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of Carl O. and Louise K. Keoniman Dillon. Jim was reared and educated in Galesburg, Illinois and attended publics schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1955. He was married to Penny L. Tinder Parish on January 13, 1984 in Burlington, Iowa and she is surviving him. Jim worked, owning his own dump truck, hauling for Kistler, Company of Monmouth. After his retirement he scrapped and hauled metal here in Monmouth, more to the present. He was formerly a member of the Eagles Aerie here in Monmouth, and for many years enjoyed driving and participating in dirt track racing, at 34 Raceway in Burlington, and also in local racing events. He is survived by his wife Penny Dillon of Monmouth, IL; two daughters, Charlene (Kay) Dillon and DeAnne (David) Cherrington, both of Galesburg, IL; and two sons Carl (Cindy) Dillon of Oneida, IL; and Jim (Teri) Dillon Jr. of Galesburg, Illinois. A step daughter, Lori (Bob) Chenault of Laurinburg, NC and two step sons, Scott (Rita) Sells of Mayville, IA and Dean (Deb) Parish of Davenport, IA.are surviving. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and step grand and great grandchildren also survive him. His sister Linda Dillon of Galesburg, Illinois survives and one brother Terry (Sandy) Dillon of Monmouth, Illinois. His best buddy Sam also survives at home. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, a grandson, and his brother. Services:As per his request cremation has been accorded, and no service is currently being planned by his family. A memorial fund is being established by and for his family.
