Charles D. "Charlie" McLaughlin, age 67 ,of Monmouth passed away at 6:35 p.m. at the Prairie City Rehabilitation Center in Prairie City, Illinois. Charlie was born October 16th, 1945 in Monmouth, the son of Carl N. and Mary O. Hood McLaughlin. He was raised in Monmouth, and attended Law School and Warren School. Charlie married Christine Ann Crooks on February 18,1967 in Monmouth. Charlie worked at Monmouth College as a custodian, then at Monmouth Pottery and later at Admirals in Galesburg. Charlie and Christine operated the Sunoco gas station in Cameron in 1983 Charlie then began work at Agar in Monmouth after it opened and worked there over forty years, retiring in 2007. Charlie also was a volunteer fireman for the Cameron Fire Department for many years. Charlie enjoyed carpentry and woodworking with his sons in his later years. He is survived by his wife Christine of Monmouth, Illinois and three sons, Douglas (Katrina) McLaughlin of Monmouth, Charles Jr. (Julie) McLaughlin of Smithshire, IL, and Albert (Elleen) McLaughlin also of Monmouth, Illinois There are six grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and fourteen great and step great grandchildren surviving. Two brothers survive, Carl McLaughlin Jr. (Cindy) and Ronnie McLaughlin, both of Monmouth, IL. Two sisters Donna Neal of Galesburg, Illinois and Carol Hornbaker of Monmouth, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Jackie, Robert, and Albert Cook, and four sisters, Minnie, Margaret, Linda, and Wilma. Services:A graveside service will be on Monday June 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, IL. His family plans visitation with the family receiving friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, on Saturday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm A memorial fund is being established for Diabetes.
