Charlotte M. Golden, age 72, of Rock Island, Illinois; passed away at 10:02 pm on December 2, 2010 at Heartland Care Center in Moline, Illinois. She was born on August 30, 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Charles Wesley and Leola Saunders Orsburn Peoples. Charlotte was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools and Monmouth High School graduating in 1956. She later attended Cosmetology School in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Timothy Golden on December 28, 1973 in Monmouth, Illinois. Charlotte began work as an operator for Bell Telephone in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She then worked several years at the Oscar Meyer packing plant in Davenport, Iowa. Charlotte's main employment was as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal where she worked a number of years until her retirement. Charlotte loved to sing and sang with the "Good News Singers". She also was a member of the Illowa Precious Moments Collectors Club. Charlotte loved to do Cross Stitch and loved to read. Surviving is her brother Raymond Peoples (Beatrice) of Galesburg, Illinois, two nieces Sherri Peoples Jamison (Jeffery) of Silvis, Illinois and Pamela Peoples Perry (William) of Monmouth, Illinois, and one nephew Brian Peoples (Leesha) of Bloomington, Illinois. Three Great Nieces Lindsey, Erika, and Darci Peoples; and Two Great Nephews Taylor Peoples and Isaiah Perry. There is one Great Great Nephew Noah Peoples survives. There are seven step children surviving to include Joann Golden of Atlanta, Ga. Her very special cousin Laveine Birditt of Peoria, Illinois is also surviving. Services:A funeral service will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois on December 10th at Noon. Her family plans to be at Turnbull Funeral Home for two hours from 10:00 am to Noon prior to the funeral service to receive friends. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for renovations at St.James AME Church of Monmouth, Illinois.
