Clara Mae Cooper, age 78, of Monmouth, passed away at 6:44 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on June 22, 1932 in Monmouth, the daughter of John and Lutisha Heatherly Weston. Clara was reared and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School. She married John C. Cooper on November 27, 1954 in Monmouth, he preceded her in death on February 4, 2003. Clara worked for a time as a nurses aid at Monmouth Hospital and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the boat. Her family was the most important thing in her life. Clara is survived by two daughters; Paula Cooper of Monmouth, and Lisa Cooper (Otis) of Monmouth, three sons; William Cooper (Toni) of Monmouth, Raymond Cooper (Tabitha) of Oquawka, Ill., and Edward Cooper (Robin) of Monmouth. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, one infant son, four brothers, and five sisters. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established.
