Cloyd F. "Pete"Cox, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 3:00 am on September 23, 2012 at his Monmouth residence. "Pete" was born on April 22, 1942 in Terre Haute, Illinois and is the son of Levi I. and Agnes L. Kissick Cox. Pete was raised in Terre Haute where he attended a one room rural school then schooled in Stronghurst and graduated from the Media Wever High School with the class of 1960. He married Beverly K. Smith on August 30, 1963 in Monmouth, and she survives. Pete has been employed by Wells Pet Food in Monmouth, for forty-nine years where he was a Lab Technician and was in charge of the Lab. He had many hobbies and interests including fishing and hunting, going to car shows and looking for ' 57 chevys like the one he had when he was young. He enjoyed football and cheering on his favorite team " The Dallas Cowboy ". Another past time he enjoyed was watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities they were involved in. He loved the Lord and going to church to worship with his wife where they were greeters and worked in the kitchen at Bethel Baptist Church. His most treasured moments were spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Surviving Pete is his wife Beverly K. Cox of Monmouth, two daughters, Cynthia K. (Bill) Robinson of Monmouth, IL., Brenda S. (Matt) Carver of New Richmond, WI., and his son Kevin C. Cox, also of Monmouth, IL. He has three granddaughters Amanda K. Robinson and Haley C. Cox, both of Monmouth, and Alyssa K. Carver of New Richmond, WI. and three grandsons, Blaine P. Robinson and Andrew J. Cox, both of Monmouth, IL. and Tanner M. Carver of New Richmond, WI. Also surviving are two sisters, Alberta (Jim) Pratt of Canton, MO. and Darla Gallegoes of DePue, Illinois. There are also several nieces and nephews surviving. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his brother in law. Services:A funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. His family plans to receive friends from Noon until the hour of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
