Constance H. Hardin, age 60, of Monmouth quietly passed away mid-day Monday, July 13th, 2009, at her river cabin in Oquawka. Constance Brownlee Hutchinson was born November 15th, 1948 in Bronxville, N.Y. The daughter of Clyde B. and Margaret Eleanor Smith Hutchinson. Her elementary education was completed at Abingdon Friends School in Jenkintown, PA. She graduated from The Knox School for Girls of Long Island, N.Y. in 1967. Connie then enrolled in and attended Monmouth College. After college, Connie was employed with Merrill Lynch in Philadelphia, PA and later in Chicago, IL. On September 25, 1976, Connie married Douglas D. Hardin in Paoli, PA. She then established her home in Monmouth, IL. She was employed with Bowman Shoe Company until the birth of a son, Alexander C. Hardin, in 1981. She then became a homemaker and volunteer for numerous charitable organizations in the area. She was an active member of the local PEO chapter and OGM. She headed the local blood drives for the American Red Cross for many years. She also served on the Jamieson Center board. She contributed her time to her church, Faith United Presbyterian Church, and served as an Elder. She gave of her time for the Warren County United Way and other local organizations as well. Connie enjoyed bridge, fishing, golf, travel, boating and participated in a local Dart League in both Monmouth and Oquawka. She was one of the organizers of the Oquawcup Sailboat Race on the Mississippi River. Her husband and her son survive Connie. Also surviving are two siblings, Mary H. Tucker (Frederick A.) of Brynmawr, PA and R. Ford Hutchinson (Patricia F.) of Hilton Head, SC, along with numerous nieces and nephews along with friends from all walks of life. Her parents preceded her in death. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20th, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Internment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 19th at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund has been established for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile or the Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
