Daniel "Booner" Gillette

Dan J." Booner"Gillette, age 27, of Kirkwood, Illinois passed away at 110 South 6th Street Monmouth, Illinois on January 13, 2014. He was born September 28, 1986 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Charles Edward "Rusty" Gillette and Christine (David) Root. Dan was raised in Monmouth and attended Monmouth Schools. He received his Diploma after finishing High School. Dan began work at Farmland Foods in Monmouth where he worked for six years. He later and to recently has been self employed in construction and house renovation. Dan likes to fish and loved being a dad, a brother, and a son. He enjoyed traveling and working with his hands. Family and friends were his greatest joy. Surviving is his mother Christine (David) Root of Monmouth, Illinois and his father Charles "Rusty" Gillette, also of Monmouth, Illinois. One daughter survives, Mia Gillette and son Julian Gillette, both of Kirkwood, Illinois, two brothers Michael (Lusiana Olson) Gillette of Superior,Wisconsin and Christopher (Anne) Thomas of Bettendorf,Iowa. Also surviving are maternal grandparents Sharon and Chet Gorman of East Galesburg,Illinois and James A. Barry of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 18th,2014 at Turnbull Funeral home in Monmouth,Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. His family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm on Friday, January 17th at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund has been established to benefit his children.
