Danny J. "Doby" Mettler

Danny J. "Doby" Mettler, age 53, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 11:38 on Saturday evening at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Dobie was born on July 25, 1959 in Monmouth, and is the son of Joe and Helen Yaeger Mettler. Danny was raised in Monmouth where he attended locals schools and Monmouth High School. "Doby" married Lisa A. Hiett on March 21, 2009 in Monmouth, Illinois, she is surviving. Danny was the activities director at "Bridgeway" in Monmouth where he was employed for nineteen years. He also drove the bus for the handicapped. Dobie also was employed as a security guard for twelve years at Farmland Foods of Monmouth, Illinois. Dobie enjoyed camping, fishing, and being out of doors. He was a fan of the St.Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco, " 49 ers " Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving Danny is his wife, Lisa of Monmouth, Illinois; his step children, Robbie Hiett of Galesburg, IL, Heather, Allison, and Eric Hiett all of Monmouth, Illinois. Three brothers survive; Rex (Debbie) Mettler of Monmouth, Mark (Laura) Mettler of Kirkwood, and Terry Lynn Mettler of Wisconsin and three sisters; April (Dean) Nickols of Keithsburg, Helen (Doug) Myers of Chicago, and Cindy Mettler of Monmouth, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, an infant niece, and his father-in-law. Services:A funeral service will be on Thursday March 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family plans visitation receiving friends at the funeral home from Noon to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. His family is establishing memorial funds for either the Oncology Department of Children's Hospitals of Illinois or for his wife and children.
