Darlene Hoskins

Darlene Hoskins, age 84, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 11:45 A.M. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care in Roseville, Illinois. She was born May 22, 1934 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Norris Oakley and Caroline (Connors) Thorndike. Darlene attended school in Davenport, Iowa. On October 24, 1950, she married Roy E. Hoskins in Keithsburg, Illinois and he is surviving. Darlene was a self-taught chef. She taught at and opened many restaurants in her career, namely Bishop's Restaurants. She also cooked for many years at the Aledo Country Club and had people traveled from miles to enjoy her cooking. Darlene was an artistic person who loved crafts and reading. Most of all, she shared deep love and compassion for her family. Darlene is survived by one son, Jackie Dale (Erlinda) Hoskins of Coal Valley, Illinois, three daughters, Vicke (Gerry) Larson of Aledo, Illinois; Susan (Dennis) Chase of Oquawka, Illinois; and Sondra Hoskins of Oquawka, Illinois, . Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, six brothers, and infant twin siblings at birth. As were Darlene's wishes, cremation is being accorded. No visitation or services are currently planned.
