Darlene D. Lant

Darlene D. Lant, age 72, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 4:40 pm. Darlene was born June 30, 1936 in Prairie City, Illinois, and is the daughter of Russell and Nida Mildred Hendrickson Coombs. She graduated from Abingdon High School. Darlene first married Robert Blevins. She then married Max Lant on June 25, 1971, in Springfield, Illinois, he survives. Darlene was first employed at the Hendrickson Paint Service as a salesperson and bookkeeper. She then went to work at the Galesburg Research Hospital as a secretary. Lastly she worked at Henry C. Hill Correctional Center as an Accountant Tech. Darlene enjoyed crocheting, camping, playing cards, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also volunteered with numerous organizations. Darlene is survived by her husband, Max Lant of Biggsville, one daughter Debbie Lumbeck and Mark of Oquawka, four sons; Terry Blevins and Kathy of Winchester, Illinois, Lonnie Blevins of Galesburg, Illinois, Marty Lant and Joni of Northfield, Minnesota, and Jeff Lant and Heather of Biggsville. Also surviving is one sister Peggy Marks and Mike of Abingdon, Becky Blevins, fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dean Blevins, and granddaughter Casey Blevins. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Biggsville United Methodist Church, where her family will be present to receive friends. Memorials can be made to either the Biggsville United Methodist Church or to the Biggsville Ambulance Service.
