David C. Cook, age 71, of Monmouth, passed away at 12:06 pm on August 27, at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. David was born May 10, 1939 in Seaton, Illinois and is the son of Willard and Winifred Brown Cook. He was raised and educated in Alexis and Keithsburg and graduated from Keithsburg High School. He entered the service and served in the Army in Germany after school. He was married to Carol Lybarger on July 8, 1960 in Decatur, Illinois. David worked twenty-three years at Oscar Meyer. He then purchased and operated a resort in Ashby, Minnesota for a number of years. Most recently he has been a driver for Star Fleet Trucking. David enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving him is his wife Carol of Monmouth, daughter Stephanie Madhok (Kunal) of the Twin Cities, Minnesota and son Shawn Cook ( Josalynd) of Columbus, Ohio. There are two grandsons Alex and Chase Cook of New Waterford, Ohio, a sister Marjorie Lincoln (Van) of Jordan, Minnesota and two brothers, Don Cook (Wendy) of Lynnhaven, Florida and Neil Cook (Judy) of Gallatin, Tennessee. Also surviving are numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Wuanita Bloomfield. Services:A funeral service will be on Tuesday August 31, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, at 11:30 am Cremation will then be accorded. His family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home for the hour prior to the service, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A memorial fund is being established for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness.
