David Myers "Bud" Eiker, age 78, of Cameron, Illinois; passed away at the Aledo Health Care Center in Aledo, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:28 pm. David was born on February 20, 1936 in Knoxville, Illinois and is the son of Daniel M. and Erma VanPelt Eiker. He was reared and educated in Knoxville and was a 1953 graduate of Knoxville High School. After school, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served for a number of years. He married Georganna Green on April 18, 1958 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. David began work as a supervisor at Protexall in the cutting room and later began work at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a carman where he worked until his retirement. He most enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the Chicago Bears. David was also a coach for Little League Baseball locally for many years. He is survived by his wife, Georganna, daughter Dawn Eiker of Omaha, NE, two sons, Dan (Jolene) Eiker of Knoxville, IL and Dave (Joye) Eiker of Melbourne, FL, three grandchildren, Chad (Shannon) Eiker, Amy (Troy)Crum, and Cody Eiker, four great-grandchildren. One brother, William (Janet) Eiker of Knoxville, Illinois is also surviving and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Mary Wagher and Betty Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Bobby, Dick, Howard, and Russell. Services:A graveside service and military honor is planned for 11:00 am on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, his family has established memorials with the Guardian Angels Humane Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. At present, no visitation is planned by the family.
