David L. Liby, age 64, of Monmouth, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 14, 1945 in Avon, Ill., the son of John L. and Dorothy E. Brown Liby. He was reared and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth Public Schools. David married Elizabeth Anne Clifford on August 16, 1964 in Abingdon, Ill. David worked at Monmouth Stone Company for 31 years. He then went on to assist several area farmers before owning and operating his own farm. David was a member of the Front Loaders Black Powder Club, the National Rifle Association and enjoyed teaching and reliving American history. David was an advocate for gun safety. He also had a great love for horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Surviving David is his wife Elizabeth Anne Liby of Monmouth, mother Dorothy E. Liby of Monmouth, four daughters; Elleen McLaughlin (Albert) of Rural Monmouth, Leesa Farmer (Rex) of Monmouth, Janet Holmberg (Late Kirby) of rural Monmouth, and Linda Marston (Nate) of Gladstone, Ill. Also surviving are his grandchildren which he was very proud of; Ellissa and Hanna Dunton, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Ryan Farmer, Emilee and Kyle Holmberg, Katherine and Dalton Marston. Three nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Brother Harold and Sister Martha Ann. Services:A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial fund has been established for the Warren County Hunter Education Fund.
