David L. Palmer

David L. Palmer, age73, of Cameron,Illinois; passed away at 9:05 am at the Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg,Illinois on November 18,2013. David was born on August 3,1940 in Galesburg and is the son of Lewis E. and Audrey Shumaker Palmer. He was raised in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School, class of 1958. He attended Carl Sandburg College and then graduated from Monmouth College. He married Margaret L. Mackey on November 30,1958 in Cameron,Illinois and she survives. David began working at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg and then was a partner and started Midwest Hydra-Lines in 1980 in Galesburg. They operated the company and it was sold in 2006. David was a member of the Galesburg Masonic Lodge and a member and past president of the Sunrise Rotary Club. He was a member and on the Board of Directors at Lake Bracken. David enjoyed fishing and hunting and he and Margaret had places in Oquawka and Dallas City, Illinois He was an avid golfer, coin and gun collector locally. He is survived by his wife Margaret Palmer of Cameron, Illinois and one daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Herrin of Lake Braken, and three granddaughters Marcy (Brad) Davis of Galesburg, Illinois Janelle Herrin of Galesburg, Illinois; and Jennifer (Ken) Bukowski of Houston, Texas. There are three great grandchildren, Braden and Benton Davis of Galesburg, Illinois and Ava Bukowski of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday November 21, 2013 at the Cameron Christian Church. His family will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois on Wednesday evening November 20, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron, Illinois following the Thursday service.
