David R. Sheppard

David R. Sheppard, age 65, of Oneida, Illinois, passed away at 5:45 A.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg, Illinois. He was born on September 25, 1953 in Joplin, Missouri, the son of William Raymond and Betty Ruth (Seidel) Sheppard. David attended Warren High School, Carl Sandburg College, and also took some on-line college courses. He was an Ordained Minister. David was married to Carla Bennett, Zelpha "Cricket" Goodell, and Lois Berglund. David worked for 15 years at Terminix Pest Control. He then started his own business, Holistic Pest Management. David and Lois owned and operated the Sheppard Family Bookstore in Monmouth for a time. He worked for a time at Walmart, and at the Greig Memorial Library in Oneida. David enjoyed adult coloring, reading, playing chess, and he was a huge fan of James Bond. Mostly, he enjoyed time with his family. David is survived by one daughter, Leslie (Brad) Hamilton of Davenport, IA, one son, Jason Sheppard of Galesburg, IL, five granddaughters; Seairra Sheppard, Karisma Sheppard, Jerzey Sheppard, Grace Sheppard, and Joon Hamilton. He is also survived by one niece, Cassie Sheppard. David is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jonathon. A graveside funeral service is planned for 11:30 A.M. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Gerlaw Cemetery. A visitation is planned from 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for the family.
