Deborah L. Horner

Deborah L. Horner, age 61, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her residence. Deb was born on July 27, 1947, in Monmouth the daughter of Fred and Marilyn Jones Welch. Deb was raised in the Little York area and graduated from Yorkwood High School. She graduated Gem City Business College in Quincy, Ill. Deb married Jack Horner on June 29, 1973 in Monmouth. He survives. Deb started her career with Standard Oil in Chicago. Later she was employed as church secretary at Faith Church in Monmouth and Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, Ill. Most recently she worked at Allstate Insurance in Galesburg. Debbie enjoyed her children and grandchildren as well as those she came in contact with at both churches and her work at Allstate. She was an avid crossword puzzle whiz, loved to play cards, read and visit with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and a true fighting spirit. Besides her husband Jack, Deb is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Frisby (Rick) of Little York, Ill., Jayme Horner of Monmouth, one son Jason Horner (Sarah) of Kirkwood and two step sons Joshua Horner (Kim) of Happy Valley, Oregon and Joel Horner of Cerritos, California, her parents Fred and Marilyn Welch of Little York, one sister Cindy Bennett of Little York and one brother, Fred Welch of Pearland, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren Bennett Frisby, Riley, Carson and Onnalee Horner Services:A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Deb's family will be present to receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening prior to the service at Turnbull's. A memorial fund is being established for OSF St. Mary's in Galesburg.
