Delores M. Manes, age 79, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at 6:50 am on Sunday January 16th, at the Monmouth Nursing Home. Delores was born on February 1, 1931 in the rural Biggsville area and is the daughter of Lloyd and Maude Peterson Hendrickson. She was raised and educated in the Media schools and attended Media High School. She married Alva James Manes on September 18, 1947 in Kirkwood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1982. Besides being a homemaker, Delores first was employed for a time at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa, and then worked as clerk at the Gladstone service station. Lastly she served as secretary at the Big River State Forest near Keithsburg, IL. She is a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oquawka Eagles Aerie. She enjoyed singing and dancing. Surviving are three daughters Mary Jane DeLuna of Monmouth, IL; Kay (Daniel) Lathrop of Monmouth; and Karen (Jim) Furnald of Oquawka, IL. There are three sons James Manes of Carman, IL; Wesley (Darlene) Manes of Gladstone, IL; and Mike (RoxAnn) Manes of Oquawka, Illinois. She has sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren surviving. Delores is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother. Services:A funeral service is planned at 11:00 am on Friday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL. Interment will be the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am prior to the funeral service. Memorial funds have been established for either the Oquawka United Methodist Church or the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oquawka Eagles Aerie.
