Delores J Wallace

Delores J. Wallace, age 84, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth on June 27, 2011 at 9:36 pm. She was born on June 11, 1927 in Keokuk, Iowa and is the daughter of Oscar E. and Blanche B. McCready Eland. Delores was raised and educated in Keokuk and Burlington, and graduated from Burlington High School in the class of 1945. She first married Melbourne R. Johnson on June 23, 1946 in Burlington, Iowa and he preceeded her on January 17, 1966. She later married Glen H. Wallace on 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is surviving. Delores first was employed at Montgomery Ward department store as a credit manager for a time. She then worked as a secretary to the president of the Oquawka Bank. Lastly she operated a gift shop for several years on main street in Oquawka, Illinois. She is survived by her husband Glen of Oquawka, and two sons Gregory M.(Lynda) Johnson and Randy L. Johnson, both of Burlington, Iowa. There are six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two brothers survive, LeRoy (Judy) Eland and Jerome (Pat) Eland both of Burlington, Iowa. A number of nieces and nephews also are surviving. She is preceeded in death by her parents and her first husband. Services:Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of life at the home of her son 411 Hagemann Avenue in Burlington, Iowa on Saturday July 2, 2011 beginning at 3:00 pm. Cremation has been accorded. No other service is currently being planned and Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of the arrangements.
