Dixie L. Bigger, age 77, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at her rural Biggsville residence. She was born on August 22, 1940 in Oquawka, Illinois, the daughter of Harold Wilson and Velma Mea (Simpson) Henshaw. Dixie was raised in the Oquawka where she attended local schools and G&O High School. On August 24, 1956, she married Richard "Dick" Bigger in Biggsville, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2009. Dixie was employed at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington, Iowa for 33 years. She held positions in U.A.W. Local 1237 and was a member of the Champion Council. After her retirement, she was the recording secretary for U.A.W. Local 1237 Retiree Chapter until May, 2016. Dixie was the Henderson County Democratic Precinct Committeewoman of Rozetta. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, puzzle books, and family cook-outs. Dixie loved spending time with her family and her pets; Wilbur, Ginger, and her four cats. Surviving Dixie are one daughter, Carol (Tim) Poncelow of Joy, IL, two sons; Richard (Wendy) Bigger, Jr. of Gladstone, IL and Rick (Denise) Bigger of Gladstone, IL, a special friend, Jeff Swanson of Burlington, IA, two sisters; Nancy Henshaw and Joyce Jones, both of Oquawka, IL, three brothers; Jack Henshaw of Oquawka, IL, Alan (Elaine) Henshaw of Keithsburg, IL, and Jay Henshaw of Oquawka, IL, grandchildren; Stephie Reckers, Nick Bigger, Tanner Bigger, Amber Bigger, and David Poncelow, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Carol, and sister-in-law Roberta Henry. Visitation A visitation is planned for 9:00-10:45 A.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 prior to the graveside at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL. Graveside Funeral Service A graveside funeral service is planned for 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Biggsville Township Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the Illinois Cancer Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
